Professor Thomas Stocker, an environmental physicist delivered an enlightening presentation from his home country Switzerland. Also known as the Guardian of our Climate, he is currently co-chairing a working group on the Inter-Governmental Panel on climate change. He is a recipient of the National Latsis Prize in 1993 and has also been rewarded with a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 as recognition for his work in conserving the environment. Presently, he holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Versailles. His presentation emphasized the dire need to conserve the environment especially in the 21st century and he further talked about how we can use Science and Technology in everyday life to accomplish the same. This was followed by a question-answer round where participants asked a plethora of questions, which were answered by Prof Stocker in great detail citing examples for each making it a very interesting and enriching experience.
